Private Museum "Honey Farm"

Room reservation

The private estate "Honey Farm" is an open-air museum organized by an innovative engineer, author of books on bee breeding, founder of ecological beekeeping G.V. Glazov. The unique museum "Honey Farm" ("Bee Museum") is located in the village of Dubrovka, in 7 km from Stary Izbor and 39.5 km from Pskov along the Riga highway.

On the territory of the farmstead "Honey Farm" there are seven buildings and a large apiary, which compositionally form a common thematic complex with an exposition of items of peasant life of the 19th-20th centuries. A refectory, an eight-bed guest house with "zero service", a Russian bath built in 1947 form the historical background of the original museum. A collection of household utensils, copper samovars, cast-iron irons, lanterns, handicraft and agricultural tools, placed in wooden log cabins, create an atmosphere of village life. Various types of hives are presented at the apiary site: natural nest boxes, old decks, rare home-made hives and modern models of "bee houses".

The innovative approach of the practical scientist V.G. Glazov provided a combination of the cognitive component with therapeutic and preventive tasks. Staying and relaxing in an ecologically clean area away from the bustle of the city, coupled with tasting natural honey and wild honey in combs, berries, traditional Russian drinks, herbal teas and juices, leaves an unforgettable experience for tourists. Adult visitors of the museum will be able to taste the famous Russian mead, honey sbiten, honey vodka and berry tinctures; children will be treated to honey sweets and berry delicacies. For the guests of the farm, a special folklore program has been prepared with folk songs and jokes, with virtuoso playing of folk musical instruments and the performance of an ancient battle hymn. In the "wooden conference hall" of the estate, after the tasting program, a fascinating lecture is held about bees, about the beneficial properties of honey, about ancient Slavic recipes. For those who wish, an express course on beekeeping is offered.
